GRIT LASKIN JUMBO "THE PITCH" (2003): EC++, 16-1/2" lower bout, gloss natural finish, Sitka spruce top, Indian rosewod back and sides with contoured Laskin armrest, 14-fret mahogany neck, 21-fret ebony fingerboard with offset abalone dot inlays, 1-3/4" nut width, 25-5/8" scale, ebony bridge, clear pickguard, ebony-bound body with maple-ebony-maple side and back purfling and m-e-m-rosewood top purfling (extending around fingerboard extension), elaborate inlaid rosette with two rings of abalone purfling, chrome Schaller tuners with ebony buttons, wonderful sound, and topped off with one of Laskin's incredible signature inlays: a baseball pitcher in mid-throw, right foot extended to mid first fret, with a background of a blue sky, back fence, and coincidentally, an Elderly Instruments billboard. This amazingly realistic work of art is executed in mother-of-pearl, gold mother-of pearl, Walrus Ivory, Lapis, Mexican turquoise, Red Coral, Orange Spiney shell, Tahitian Blacklip pearl, gold, and Obsidian.
