Much earlier in his career, in the `70s, guitar-picker extraordinaire Norman Blake first set out to do what any virtuoso must do to establish himself, namely blow the competition away! becoming in the process one of the handful of true Olympians in an ocean of hot flatpickers. But it wasn't long until Blake, no longer needing to prove himself top gun, began returning more and more to what's evidently his true love: the time-tempered songs and tunes of early Southern country music. Always a paragon of guitaristic tone and taste, this 1999 outing is just Norman, his songs, his voice, and his collection of great, musem-quality old guitars, as less and less becomes more and more!
