This small-combo, strings-plus-horns swing outing is one of the finest we've heard in years, with the incredible Don Stiernberg on mandolin and John Parrott on rhythm guitar (both proteges of the legendary country/swing mandolinist Jethro Burns) joined by in-the-pocket upright bassist Jim Cox, and augmented by Greg "Spats" Studebaker on cornet and flugelhorn and Chuck Hedges on clarinet. Great stuff: stellar musicianship, a swell selection of tunes, and a contemporary feel for the sparkling music of an earlier era.
