These are the first of a new series of guitars from Don Young and Eric Smith at National Reso-phonic guitars. These guitars fully embrace the spider bridge configuration with a hollowcore squared profile neck, and carry the Smith & Young name, to distinguish them from their National Reso-phonic cousins. This first pair of squareneck guitars are made with either a maple body, the "Model 11," for a guitar with a powerful rich sound or a nickel plated steel body, the "Model 1" for a guitar with more edge and power. And the "hollowcore" neck, which has been milled in a manner to create a tone chamber inside, adds to both the tonal palette and power of each instrument.
