FOLK HARMONICA

No simple folk tunes here, this book focuses on those harmonica players who came to prominence in the Folk Era of the late 50s and early 60s, along with earlier and later players like Woody Guthrie and Bruce Springsteen. Starts with info about choosing a harmonica, harmonica racks, cross harp and bending notes. Each artist section includes a biography with performance notes, song lyrics with chord symbols, a transcription of the harmonica part or solo in notation with harmonica tab, and a nice reproduction of the album cover. Includes songs by Eric Andersen, Hamilton Camp, Donovan, Bob Dylan, Jesse Fuller, Andy Irvine, Ralph McTell, and others. A very well-written book with clean and bright transcriptions, this covers an often overlooked niche in harmonica history. Wire-bound. Note/tab. 93 pp. ($24.95)
