Novice Mandolin I with Bob McCloy
A two-part mandolin course for those looking to start off on the right foot!
Friday , January 19, 2007
10:30 am
- 12:30
Location: Elderly Instruments
workshop
(free$40)
This hands-on workshop is specifically designed for novices--for those who may have never held a mandolin but who are ready to take that first step. Mandolins are available to all students for the workshop, and you'll begin making music during the session. By the end of class, you'll be playing your first tune on the mandolin.
Mando I begins with basic technique including holding the instrument, posture, hand/finger position, and use a flatpick; working toward the ability to play in a relaxed manner. Using a basic scale, drills will be presented that will integrate techniques, followed by basic folk/bluegrass tunes.
Both workshops will include a booklet and accompanying CD. There will be no need for the ability to read music (although it never hurts!). For Ages 10 and up.
A conscientious and thorough instructor who wants to help his students excel, Bob provides beneficial hand-out materials to help students practice more effectively following the workshop. Tape recorders are welcome in the class, but all course material will be provided in a course pack that includes a CD and written music.
Bob McCloy has been a popular and successful music instructor (in all levels and styles of guitar, mandolin, and fiddle) for nearly 30 years. The experience he has acquired teaching thousands of students to play enables them to become musically self-sufficient while turning their "work" into pure pleasure.
Remember to save $10 and sign up for both sessions for only $70
