Ray Kamalay, singer and guitarist, is a long-time professional. He has worked with many fine artists around Michigan, including James Dapogny, The Chenille Sisters, Joel Mabus, Howard and Ralphe Armstrong, Sherm Mitchell and Betty Joplin. He has a number of albums to his credit, as well as appearances at many of Michigan's finest venues, including Interlochen, The Macomb Center, and the Detroit International Jazz Festival. In 1998 his work with Howard Armstrong was nominated for a W.C. Handy Award.

In this Masterclass (designed for intermediate to advanced students) Ray will focus on repertoire (including lyrics), accompaniment, and improvisation, with historic recordings and original arrangements. Lead sheets with custom accompaniment are provided, as well as a rhythm track CD for home practice. A second set of lead sheets (in TAB) is provided with clues for improv. Students are welcome to bring recorders.
