A FREE In-Store Concert with Singer/Songwriter DAISY MAY wsg Seth Bernard

"She's enough folk to satisfy most and enough country to satisfy the rest." - Recoil Magazine

Saturday , February 24, 2007
11:00 am
Location: Elderly Instruments
in-store performance (free)

The "teaser," above, is just a small portion of Matt Jensen's review of Daisy May's 2004 debut album Sleepless in Recoil Magazine. The rest of his praise for this Michigan singer/songwriter is even better: "Patty Griffin, Emmy Lou Harris. Ani Difranco. These are names that come to mind when one hears the gorgeous voice and lyrics of May Erlewine. She's enough folk to satisfy most and enough country to satisfy the rest. It's hard to find much wrong with this singer/songwriter; her poetry is tangible, her voice and sound are more than accessible and, after all, anyone who hitchhikes from coast to coast has earned enough indie cred for a lifetime. This artist is worth it!"

In addition to Sleepless, Daisy May has released another solo album, Heart Song, and, with Earthwork Music partner Seth Bernard, Seth Bernard and Daisy May, both in 2005. Her latest solo album, Mother Moon, is being released early this year. To celebrate her new CD, Daisy May is offering a free in-store at Elderly, and Seth's joining her as a special guest.

She is also scheduled to perform at the Ann Arbor Folk Festival on Saturday, January 27, at the Ten Pound Fiddle in East Lansing with Seth--sharing the bill with Michigan singer/songwriter Jen Sygit--on Friday, February 23, and at the Kraftbrau in Kalamazoo on Sunday, February 25.

Born into a family of musicians, May has been playing music for all of her life, learning piano and singing at an early age. Her acoustic guitar is seldom far from her side. She has performed in numerous locations, largely on the East Coast (New York City's Fez, Boston's famed Club Passim...) and in the Midwest, from the widely-respected Ark in Ann Arbor to the historical Calumet Theatre in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

Daisy May, along with her special guest and Earthwork Music partner Seth Bernard, is extremely active on the Midwest music scene, donating considerable time, talent, and enthusiastic support for area musicians and worthy causes.
