We love it when Gibson comes to visit--when that big sparkling trailer (the size of an 18-wheeler!) parks in front of the store and opens wide its doors so that we can all enjoy the acoustic wares on display in the "traveling showroom" behemoth.
The "Gibson Acoustic Traveling Showroom" appears throughout the U.S. displaying some of the world's finest acoustic guitars, all hand-built in Boseman, Montana. From historic reproductions to new designs, the portable show allows guests--Elderly patrons and a welcome public--to see and PLAY a wide selection of fine Gibson instruments.
In addition to offering the opportunity to see and play these excellent acoustic instruments, the "traveling showroom" also portrays a wealth of history surrounding one of America's premiere makers of guitars, banjos, mandolins.... A Gibson product specialist will be on hand in the "showroom" throughout the day in order to answer questions.
The Gibson Guitar Company is now celebrating its 111th year in the music industry. We're reminded of an insightful quotation by author Walter Carter in his finely-illustrated 1994 book Gibson Guitars: 100 Years of an American Icon: "Like Coca-Cola, Levi's or Harley-Davidson, Gibson has transcended mere brand-name status to become a presence in life. It seems like Gibson has just always been there, and for all practical musical purposes, that's true."
The Gibson trailer will be here all day Friday the 20th. Stop in and enjoy the display.
