in-store performance (free)

The Bluegrass Tenderfeet, an Elderly ensemble band, is offering a new and exciting free in-store event; it's a "real-world" recital of sorts, the culmination of a seven-week workshop course in "bluegrass ensemble playing." Commencing on January 13, the eleven musicians who comprise The Bluegrass Tenderfeet met weekly with Elderly instructors Keith Billik and Alan Epstein (both talented longtime professional players with excellent teaching credentials) for the purpose of gaining valuable ensemble-playing experience and developing their musicianship.

The Bluegrass Tenderfeet Band consists of musicians Bob Ashbaugh, Jim Brisbois, Mike Erwine, Dave Haggadone, Joe Johnson, Tom McElroy, Ryan Mellott, Kent Refsal, Michelle Slater, Dave Snell, and Jonathan Walton.

These eleven "graduates," who will be playing banjo, fiddle, guitar, and mandolin during the in-store concert, focused for six weeks on experiencing ensemble interaction, creating professional arrangements of standard bluegrass repertoire, developing jam etiquette, and conquering stage fright by--among other things--performing together in public for family, friends, and everyone who enjoys bluegrass music. You're invited!

The ensemble-workshop syllabus stated several goals, the first being to make the workshop participants "feel comfortable and confident playing with others," including "confronting a problem affecting even professionals: stage fright." Another primary goal was "to make sure you have fun." Come watch them, and YOU have fun, too.
