Harmonious Wail's founder and leader Sims Delaney-Potthoff is offering a mandolin workshop based on Django Reinhardt Gypsy swing. During the 90-minute session, Sims will debunk the mystery of improvisational approaches to the music and make improvisation more readily attainable. Right-hand technique will also be discussed, and hand-outs are included with the workshop. Sims studied for seven years with legendary jazz mandolinist Jethro Burns [of Grand Ole Opry and Homer & Jethro comedy fame] before laying the foundation for Harmonious Wail's long-popular Gypsy jazz/acoustic string swing sounds.
