Sing Out! Magazine [Fall, 2003] addressed Twin Cities singer-songwriter Matthew Fox's musical style and his album Pilgrim: "Guitarist and singer Matthew Fox's music is steeped in country blues, bluegrass and Texas swing. Equal partis originals and traditional songs, the album has a toe-tapping, easygoing, front-porch vibe. Fox's playing is solid."
A self-described "guitarist-mandolinist-songwriter-daddy," Matt
has played and/or shared billing with musical greats like Kenny Wayne Shepard, Dakota Dave Hull, the Kentucky Headhunters, Peter
Ostroushko, and numerous other notables.
In Acoustic Guitar Magazine's column "Guitar Talk," John Bauman reviewed one of Twin Cities singer-songwriter Matthew Fox's live shows: "....when I tell you about the experience of hearing Matthew Fox, please accept that I am not overstating the case....Matthew is so facile with the guitar, with such an easy-going stage presence, that you don't really care what his left and right hand are doing....you are only being carried off to where he is taking you."
"His sound is clean and crisp. It reminds me of what folk music should be, simple and from the heart and gut," wrote Panache Magazine [February, 2003].
We can't resist repeating Matt's website reference to his Wednesday, March 3 Elderly concert: "I'll be doing an in-store gig at the legendary Elderly Instruments about 5 pm. These folks have one of the largest and finest selections of instruments in the world [drool mode on!]." Check Matt's website at www.matthewfox11.homestead.com and stop in March 3 at 5 pm.
