The Weepers"...on House of Love, the members find a satisfying common ground in the rootsy sound of acoustic music that juggles country, rock, and folk." --ALL MUSIC GUIDE
The Weepers play mostly original music, which touches on American roots styles such as bluegrass, old-time, country & western, western swing and rockabilly. The individual members are well-known around mid-Michigan from their work in various other bands. Front-man, singer, songwriter, guitarist & steel guitarist Drew Howard led the hard rock outfit Bad Oskar, as well as country-rockers the Dumpster Cowboys. Fiddler, singer & songwriter Tahmineh Gueramy also plays in the Celtic group Pub Domain, the old-timey harmony group Uncle Earl, and can be heard on recordings by Half Looking, Kitty Donohoe, Wanda Degen and Zydecrunch. Mandolin & guitar player Mike Cutler is also a member of Pub Domain. Drummer Pat Bills used to play with local punkers Apollo 9. And bassist Steve Szilagyi is also a member of the Java Junkies, a favorite local old-time group. The Weepers are currently celebrating the release of their second CD entitled "House of Love." All Music Guide says, "a listen to House of Love makes it clear that they've brought together the past and the present in music that's soulful, passionate, and full of joy. Fine stuff from a band to watch."
