Learning & Playing Irish Tunes w/ Shannon Heaton of Siucra

This workshop is for players of all instruments who would like to improve their ears, and hone their Irish playing style. Shannon will teach tunes by ear, with emphasis placed on how to learn more quickly and efficiently. Elements of style will be covered, so you can make all those notes sound like Irish dance music. A basic familiarity with your instrument is required (being able to play all the notes, some scales and simple songs). A tape recorder is recommended. "Siucra" (sugar in Irish) is a Colorado based trio playing traditional Irish music. Since forming 2 years ago, the group has been on a non-stop ride, performing in festivals, theaters and pubs. "A Place I Know", the group's debut CD, has been recently featured in the Elderly Catalogue, as well as Acoustic Guitar and Irish Music Magazine. The members of Siucra have just returned from an extended stay in Ireland (with stops in Boston & Chicago), where their time was spent further honing their skills.
