The Irish Song Tradition w/ Beth Leachman of Siucra

This workshop will give a brief overview of the Irish song tradition. Bring a tape recorder, any questions you might have, and any songs you would like to share. Beth will be sharing a few of her own--yes, we will be singing! This workshop is suitable to singers of all levels. No previous experience in Irish singing is neccesary--just a curiosity about the music and the desire to share some songs. "Siucra" (sugar in Irish) is a Colorado based trio playing traditional Irish music. Since forming 2 years ago, the group has been on a non-stop ride, performing in festivals, theaters and pubs. "A Place I Know", the group's debut CD, has been recently featured in the Elderly Catalogue, as well as Acoustic Guitar and Irish Music Magazine. The members of Siucra have just returned from an extended stay in Ireland (with stops in Boston & Chicago), where their time was spent further honing their skills.
