JOSEPH SOBOL WORKSHOP "Celtic Fingerstyle Techniques for All Fretted Instruments"

"Sobol has a crisp and clean performance style which retains its clarity no matter how fast he's playing. --DIRTY LINEN

Saturday , February 05, 2000
12:00 am
Location: Elderly Instruments
workshop ($30)

Joseph will teach fingerstyle techniques for playing traditional Irish dance music on virtually any fretted instrument. He will concentrate on double-strung cittern and bouzouki family instruments, but will show how these techniques, involving a thumbpick and two or three fingers, can be used to recreate the lift, drive, and ornamentation of traditional tunes on guitar, mandolin, or four-and five-string banjo. Interested players are welcome on any of these instruments. Bring an instrument, a thumbpick, and two relaxed hands. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged. Register in person at Elderly Instruments (1100 N. Washington, Lansing), or by phone (with credit card) at (517) 372-7890
