This series is designed to teach aspiring pickers the intros, endings, back-ups and lead parts for 21 essential bluegrass tunes. Each book features a different instrument--guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin or bass--so that every member of your band can learn their part. On the CD, the band (featuring a virtual "dream team" of professional pickers) plays backup and lead to each tune at a slow-to-moderate tempo. After the first solo the bass drops out so you can play along and provide the bottom end yourself. There are even spaces where the lead instruments drop out so you can try your own solos. The book includes notation for the bass part as well as the basic melody so you can play along with the intros, endings and solos. Notation only. 34 pp.
