hot platter! RED ON BLONDE: Here's a concept album that really worked! For this 1996 recording O'Brien chose a baker's dozen of Dylan songs he felt would work in an acoustic stringband format. Most of the song choices are a little off the beaten track, and all are virtually reinvented in O'Brien's hands. The band here is The O'Boys: Scott Nygaard on guitar, Mark Schatz on bass, clawhammer banjo, ham bone and harmony vocals! They're joined by a number of guests, including Jerry Douglas on Hawaiian, resophonic and lap steel guitars. Tim leads the pack, singing like Bob never could, and playing mandolin, fiddle and bouzouki. Hey Tim, where's that Volume Two?
