hot platter! SKIP, HOP & WOBBLE: This trio first came together in the late 80s to perform some of the material they had recorded individually over the years. They were so pleasantly surprised with how well the stripped-down trio format worked that Barenberg, Douglas & Meyer became a genuine musical entity, playing festival and concerts, and eventually recording this landmark 1993 album for Sugar Hill. Virtuosos one and all, Douglas on resophonic guitar, Barenberg on guitar and Meyer on string bass move through ten original instrumentals and a couple trad favorites in the bluegrass/newgrass/new acoustic music vein. Special guest Sam Bush lends his trademark mandolin sound to two tracks, which call to mind the "Strength in Numbers" project.
