Doc Watson & David Holt
hot platter! LEGACY
-
Arthel "Doc" Watson was born in 1923 near Deep Gap, NC. Although his family was musical, no one could have predicted that Doc would emerge as the most beloved and influential guitarist in the world of folk and bluegrass music. Doc's long career has encompassed great success (awards, worldwide tours, over 50 albums) yet terrible tragedy (the death of his son and musical partner Merle in 1985). On the first two CDs of this set, David Holt interviews Doc about his entire life, including his family, his early years as a performer, his travels with Merle, and his playing style, with a few songs and tunes along the way. The third CD is a live concert with Doc and David performing together in early 2001. This in-depth conversation will fascinate any Doc Watson fan!
