Liz Carroll
hot platter! LOST IN THE LOOP
-
Consisting of 13 Carroll originals and ten traditional standards, this killer offering from this Chicago-based queen of Irish fiddle is at once fresh, vibrant, contemporary and true to the tradition. There's something elusively "slinky" about her style; for lack of a better word-she GROOVES! Seamus Egan lends his talent on whistle, guitar and precussion, Solas fiddler Winifred Horan joins Liz on three cuts, Daithi Sproule (of Altan and formerly Carroll's bandmate in Trian), brings his always-tasteful guitar, and Zan McLeod's bouzouki shines. There are more than a few knowledgeable folks who say there's no finer Irish fiddler alive; there are surely none who combine such dazzling, overwhelming virtuosity with true soulfulness like this remarkable artist.
