He's little known today, but to his contemporaries---especially in his heyday period of the mid-`20s to the mid-`40s or so---he was in a class by himself. His was a daring, aggressive, turbo-charged "long-bow" style that electrified radio audiences and other fiddlers as well; more than a few, upon hearing him, instantly forsook their own styles and devoted their lives to imitating him. Here's the first full-length CD to be devoted entirely to the commercial sides (1935-40, with the Delmore Bros.) from this wildly influential player, whose style has come to represent the "missing link" between old-time fiddling and bluegrass.
