The Mando Boys
HOLSTEIN LUST -- LIVE: THE MIDWESTERN TOURS 1987-1995
-
Peter Ostroushko originally formed this wacky mandolin quartet to perform on "A Prairie Home Companion" road shows, but they also did their own concerts and festival appearances. Each member wore sunglasses and a fez, and their stage banter made it sound like the group was from Eastern Europe. But then they'd dazzle the audience with impeccable arrangements of everything from swing tunes to rags, from Gershwin to Bach, from "Lady Be Good" to "La Bamba." These live recordings capture their comic stage persona and fabulous playing. Ostroushko is joined by Dick Nunneley, Joe Trimbach, and John Niemann.
