A HENRY REED REUNION: Fiddler Henry Reed was from a state with a unique folk culture---West Virginia---and he himself possessed a vast and distinctive repertoire with roots deep in the 19th century. This Appalachian griot, this living vessel of tradition, had a worthy protege in Alan Jabbour, former director of the Folk Archives for the Library of Congress and a splendid fiddler in his own right. In this energy-packed recording, Jabbour is reunited with former Hollow Rock String Band-mate Bertram Levy (playing banjo this time around) and Reed's son James on guitar with a full 21 tunes from the master's repertoire.
