Mike Seeger, Hazel Dickens, Tracy Schwarz, Alice Gerrard, and Lamar Grier created this impeccable album back in 1969, authentically recreating the arrangements -- and raw power -- of some genuine classics of old-time music. Their vocal harmonies are straight out of an old 78, and, despite the (somewhat misleading) name, they show off their old-timey instrumental abilities as well.
