One of the East Coast's session cats of choice, having played with everyone from Les Paul to Madonna to Mark O'Connor and beyond, Vignola here steps out with a stunner of a solo album. There's nowhere to hide, it's just Frank and his guitar---no sidemen, no overdubs, just the usual sumptuous production from David Grisman, the avatar of acoustic music. The title suggests homage to Django Reinhardt, and indeed "Tears" and "Manoir des Mes Reves" are here; but so are tunes by Charlie Parker, Erroll Garner, even Bach---and some great originals.
