We're always thrilled when some of our favorite old LPs finally get reissued on CD, and such is the case with Jody Stecher's first two albums. Actually, when these recordings first came out in the 1970s, they were a LOT of people's favorites -- a source of inspiration and repertoire for the likes of David Grisman, Jerry Garcia, Hot Rize, the Seldom Scene, and many others. They still sound great, too, with 19 tracks ranging from traditional ballads to Jean Ritchie's "Black Waters," two versions of Gordon Bok's "Hills of Isle Au Haut," the bluegrass chestnut "Way Downtown," and the Indian-flavored "Leela."
