EC, gorgeous reproduction of a 17th century lyra viol (viola da gamba with sympathetic strings) by Henry Jaye, 7 regular strings and 7 sympathetic strings (sympathetic strings may be removed so this could be played like a viola da gamba), flat curly maple back with delicate purfling designs, flamed maple sides and neck, carved spruce top with double purflings and decorative prufling designs on lower bout, interesting decorative soundholes in the usual positions plus oval-shaped soundhole (with decorative insert) underneath the end of the fingerboard, ebony fingerboard with tie-on gut frets (like a lute) and with decorative shape over body, laminated (ebony over maple) tailpiece with matching (to the fingerboard) decorative end, sympathetic strings attach the endblock side of body, 14 carved rosewood friction pegs on pegbox, carved and painted head in place of a standard scroll, handcrafted in Canada by this noted maker, with Kingham MTM custom HSC, ~55-1/2" total length, ~27-1/4" scale length, ~15" lower bout, ~5-1/4" body depth, missing a couple of strings and frets need to be placed correctly, on consignment (SN:10-1-04)
