Young fiddle and dance sensation April Verch has been well-known in her native Canada for some time. She began step dancing at age three and fiddling at six; before long she was doing both at the same time and winning contests across Canada. With this, her Rounder Records debut (and fourth album overall), her fame in the US is all but assured. While her previous releases have focused on the fiddle styles of her native Ottawa Valley, "Verchuosity" finds her stretching out in many musical directions---tunes from New England, Ireland, Brazil, France and Appalachia blend seamlessly with traditional Canadian tunes and a half-dozen Verch originals. A wonderful listen for any fans of "Verchuoso" fiddle playing!
