Lunasa
hot platter! REDWOOD
-
There's a reason we seem to highlight every Lunasa album when it comes out: they're a young, latter-day band but with a profound, old-school love of the tradition, and an ensemble sound that's nothing less than luscious---as thick and inviting as a pint of stout. "Redwood" was recorded in northern California during a break in their 2002 tour, and conceived as an attempt to capture a little of their live energy on tape. The cold California mists must have felt like home; the tunes flow with a spirited ease that Lunasa masters like no other. Recommended, as always!
