Tony Ellis, whose charming "Dixie Banner" LP we highlighted in an earlier catalog, is the possessor of a unique style and repertoire: he's an alumnus of Bill Monroe's Blue Grass Boys, but he reveres the old music, and his approach to the 5-string banjo seems perfectly to bridge the two worlds of old-time Appalachian music and bluegrass. This album, which is really a program of duets with his son, guitarist Bill Ellis, is another finely-crafted classic.
